The Daughters of the King is an Order of the Episcopal Church, open to all women of the church who feel called to a life of prayer, service, and evangelism. Its members both pray regularly for the spread of Christ's kingdom and for the spiritual life of the parish. The Order's members also provide opportunities to deepen and strengthen their prayer life through Quiet Days and other special events.

This Order is an aid to women who wish to deepen their spirituality through learning and fellowship. Assemblies, retreats, meetings with other Daughters, and the strengthening benefits of friendships among Daughters all contribute to the continuing spiritual growth of the Daughters.

Our culture of a frenzied "run-and-do" mode is reflected even in many Christian women's groups, as they too are caught up in the vortex of breathless activity. By contrast, the Order of the Daughters of the King focuses on the spiritual, the quietness of communion with God. Our goal is "To Be rather than Do", to first ask "Why" before deciding thoughtfully on the "What" of meaningful service. With prayerful quietness of inner peace and fellowship among faithful Christian women, we have a powerful basis for the prayer shield for our parishes, evangelism, and helping address needs through service.

Its call is to be at the disposal of the parish priest. Members may respond to fill any type of need. This openness and flexibility in ministry and commitment to pray for the church are the hallmarks of the DOK.
