RAIN
There are some exciting new changes at
RAIN. Please see the following letter from Rev. Amy Brooks.
"Although we continue to provide
support to people living with HIV both in Charlotte & the Rock Hill area
through volunteer CareTeams, as well as the Supply Closet and the
RAINdeer Project, we are currently developing programming in new areas
including:
-
a peer support program by and for
positive people consisting of monthly phone calls and cards;
-
advocacy leadership development
which allows positive people to receive training to approach
legislators, speak out on issues of concern, and to develop a website
(POZ Charlotte).
We have several staff providing
support in the Rock Hill area now, thereby allowing me to continue
developing the Education and Advocacy program at RAIN. I will be
partnering more fully with the Catawba Care Coalition to bring new
congregations on board in the SC area to support the clinic particularly
with transportation issues.
We hope to plan a training session soon in SC; so if you are interested
please call me at 704-372-7246 ext. 114.
As always, we are so grateful for the consistent donations from the
church for the Supply Closet. You really make it possible! "
Peace, Amy
IHN
The Interfaith Hospitality Network is a
nonprofit agency that provides shelter, food, and life skills training
to help families regain and maintain self-sufficiency. Churches host the
families at night and prepare them three meals a day. Currently there
are 13 host churches (Our Saviour is one).
About five times a year, each church hosts the families for one week.
Volunteers are the core of this valuable program. Volunteers stay
the night with the families, help set up the site, and work at the day
center. The director, Jennifer Coye, works with our local IHN
facilitator, Joseph Zoubian, to provide oversight for the program.
USHERING IS FOR YOU!
We need more volunteers to become ushers. If you would like to assist in this important ministry, please contact
the church office.
